What drives the price
Two quotes for the same garage can differ by hundreds of dollars for good reasons. Three factors move the number:
- The system. An interior-only epoxy flake floor costs less than a full polyurea base with a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat. Outdoor surfaces need the polyaspartic, so pool decks, patios, and driveways price a little higher.
- The slab's condition. Heavy cracking, pitting, spalling, or grinding off a previous failed coating all add prep labor. An older Mandarin garage that needs an old coating stripped lands toward the top of the range; a fresh Nocatee slab lands toward the bottom.
- The finish. A standard flake blend is the baseline. A hand-worked metallic "3D" finish is more because every floor is one of a kind.
Why the DIY kit isn't really cheaperBig-box roll-on epoxy kits run about $2.50–$4/sq ft, but they skip the diamond grinder and lay paint over smooth or acid-etched concrete. In Florida heat and humidity that's exactly the setup that peels and hot-tire lifts within a year or two — so the "cheap" floor gets ground off and redone at full price.
